Rugby Australia congratulates four inspirational figures from across Australian Rugby for their recognition on this year's King’s Birthday Honours List and thanks them for their outstanding contributions to our game at all levels.

Sally Loane AM has been recognised for her significant service in board and governance roles to charitable organisations and broadcasting.

She served seven years as a Non-Executive Director on the NSW Waratahs board, becoming the first woman to serve on the board in the club’s history.

Shirley Russell AM has been recognised for her significant service to rugby union as a player, coach, and volunteer.

Becoming the first female Life Member of the Queensland Rugby Union in 2024, among Russell’s many achievements, she was named as Wallaroo No. 26 in 1995, serving as an assistant coach for their 2006 World Cup campaign and the Women’s Sevens' successful 2009 World Cup campaign.

Anthony Kube OAM has been recognised for his services to rugby across all levels of the game, becoming the 39th Tasmanian Rugby Union Life Member in April this year.

Peter Satouris OAM has been recognised for retail and community service, including his work with the Randwick Rugby Union Club.

Rugby Australia CEO Phil Waugh expressed his gratitude to all four King's Birthday Honourees for their enormous contributions to Australian Rugby.

“Everyone recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours List has gone above and beyond when it comes to the impact they have made on Australian Rugby and the community at large," said Waugh.

“On behalf of everyone at Rugby Australia, I offer my sincere congratulations to Sally, Shirley, Anthony and Peter for their outstanding, dedicated service to the game.”
