The Australian Sevens squads have been confirmed for the 2025-26 HSBC SVNS World Series, with a total of 19 players re-signing across both programs ahead of the season kicking off in Dubai.

The men’s side welcomes back a host of returning players, with Maurice Longbottom named alongside Jayden Blake, Ben Dalton, Michael Icely, James McGregor, Dietrich Roache, Josh Turner, and co-captains Henry Hutchison and Henry Paterson.

Hutchison and Longbottom will be valuable inclusions in head coach Liam Barry's outfit, with the former boasting over 300 matches on the world stage, while the latter enters his tenth season in the program, edging closer to 50 tournaments.

Roache will be key in his return from an ACL injury as Barry prepares to blend experience with a new crop of stars in Dubai.

Rookies Wallace Charlie, Will Cartwright, Oliver Harvey, Beau Morrison, Gage Phillips, Cooper Watters, and Harry Wilson are all in contention, while speedster Bailey Roberts-Lintmeijer has joined on a development contract.

The new arrivals come from a myriad of programs, including the Australia U20 side, Australian Schoolboys, the NSW Waratahs, and the Lloyd McDermott First Nations pathway.

They come in place of Dally Bird, Matt Gonzalez, Sid Harvey, Connor Hickey, Henry Palmer, and Hayden Sargeant, who will depart from last season's campaign.

The women's side will have a settled outfit, with Isabella Nasser set to wear the captain’s armband - joining ten of her teammates who have recommitted for another year.

Sariah Paki and Madison Ashby are set to make their return to the women's program after injury delays, and they will be joined by Charlotte Caslick, Tia Hinds, and Bienne Terita following their Wallaroos stint through 2025.

Seasoned campaigner Demi Kennewell (nee Hayes) joins next-generation stars Mackenzie Davis, Heidi Dennis, Kiiahla Duff, Amahli Hala, and Piper Simons in the squad, while Kahli Henwood, Kaitlin Shave, and Sidney Taylor also return.

Tim Walsh's side has had a lengthy pre-season preparation, with stints in Fiji, New Zealand and Toowoomba as part of the International Women’s Rugby Sevens tournament.

Both sides are now in pre-season training ahead of the nine-round global competition, which kicks off in Dubai on November 29.

“We’re really pleased with the quality of the squads assembled for the 2025/2026 season starting in November,” Sevens National Performance Manager Scott Bowen said in an official statement.

“Liam and Tim have done a fantastic job preparing both squads ahead of the new season, and we’re looking forward to getting back on the field.

“We’ve been able to retain every player who was part of our women’s squad last season, while we have several new signings in the men’s program who are exciting and part of the next generation coming through in Australian rugby.

“We’d also like to thank those who depart our men’s program and wish them all the very best for the future.”
