Queensland powerbrokers are quietly confident Friday's international tour clash with Wales will set a three-year attendance record in Brisbane.

Platinum seating at Suncorp Stadium has already sold out with a crowd in excess of 22,000 expected to watch the Reds tackle Warren Gatland's side.

Tickets to Reds v Wales on Friday July 19 available here.

That figure would see Queensland post their highest home attendance since 41,637 watched the Reds' dramatic Super Rugby AU final win over ACT Brumbies in 2021.

"I'm excited, I know everyone in the side's excited and even talking to Warren (Gatland) last night too, he's excited about this opportunity," Kiss said.

"Tickets are selling out fast. There's a few gold tickets available, there's a Reds section for only $20 a head so if we can get the message out there to get along and enjoy Friday night, it should be sensational."

Wales may be coming off a winless Six Nations and two-Test series loss to Australia but Kiss is under no illusions about the quality of his opposition.

Rising Welsh playmaker Sam Costelow has been handed the reins at flyhalf while league convert Regan Ware and flyer Rio Dyer form a potent wing combination.

Meanwhile there's plenty of forward starch from the pine with Test regulars Daffyd Jenkins and Tommy Reffell set for impact roles.

"They play tight rugby, their maul is bloody good. I know that if we're not good enough in the middle and open up space, it could be dangerous.

"If we can do the right thing in the middle, hopefully both teams and both backlines can play a bit of footy."
