Towering teen Xander Chisholm has the right rugby genes to make the most of his chance in the KDL Property Group Emerging Reds Cup.
At 16, lock Chisholm has already stretched through the 2m barrier which means he can look his father and grandfather in the eye.
The son of former Wallaby Mark Chisholm also has decorated 1980s Wallaby Bill Campbell as a grandfather so being a lock was probably preordained.
Employing the above-head skills he’s learned playing premiership-winning volleyball at Gregory Terrace marries smoothly with his jumping and timing in rugby.
His first taste of representative rugby will come in the Brisbane Grey U16s at the Emerging Reds Cup which kicks off at Ballymore Stadium on September 22.
The Emerging Reds Cup has blossomed in a few short years to be a valuable elite pathway competition. More than 200 of the state’s best teenage rugby talents will be in action at Ballymore in U14s and U16s over the three days of action next month.
Brisbane Grey, Brisbane White, South-East Queensland and Queensland Country will contest the U16s. The Brisbane sides have no right to rule with South-East Queensland going unbeaten in this division last year.
KDL Property Group has taken on naming rights as sponsor of the ERC for 2025 and beyond.
