Biography

Having first appeared for Queensland Country at the back end of the 2016 NRC season, Liam Wright has continued to make his mark in Australian Rugby. Wright’s star has continued to rise in 2019 after making his Test debut against New Zealand in August. The talented backrower played all but 12-minutes for the Queensland Reds in 2019, finishing in second place in the Pilecki medal (player of the year). After being named the 2017 U20s player of the year at the Rugby Australia awards, Wright has also vice-captained Queensland Country in 2017 and 2018, with the 21-year-old touted for leadership honours in the future. Wright’s tireless work at the breakdown and strong defensive work make him one of the best young forwards in the country and key to the Country campaign this year.
