Qantas Australian Men's Sevens Head Coach Andy Friend has named a 13-man party for this weekend's HSBC Singapore Sevens, featuring three Queenslanders.
University of Queensland’s Con Foley has been selected alongside the Souths duo of James Stannard and Stephan Van Der Walt.
Warringah half-back Josh Holmes, who has been training with the national Sevens program for the past month, will make his first appearance in an Australian jersey since 2007.
Forwards Sam Figg and Pat McCutcheon have also been drafted into the squad while Stannard will captain the side in the absence of Ed Jenkins, who has been rested.
Friend has ten players ruled out through injury with Tom Cusack (wrist), Pama Fou (shoulder), Nick Malouf (knee), Tom Lucas (knee), Simon Kennewell (ankle), Lewis Holland (foot), Nick Cummins (ankle), Greg Jeloudev (foot), Henry Hutchison (foot) and Henry Speight (eye) all unavailable for selection.
Friend said: "I think we have chosen a squad that has plenty to prove. We're getting used to making Cup Semi Finals now but we're a hungry and ambitious group and want more than that."
On being drawn in Pool D alongside Argentina, Japan and Wales, Friend added: "We're playing teams in Singapore that are in a bit of form themselves with Wales having made the last couple of Cup Quarter-Finals and Argentina winning the Bowl competition last weekend in Hong Kong.
"Japan themselves qualified for next year's World Series as a core team in Hong Kong so will be on a real high which makes them a threat."
Having reached four Cup Semi-Finals in consecutive tournaments for the first time in 15 years, Australia currently sits in fourth place in the 2015-16 HSBC Sevens World Series standings, 17 points adrift of South Africa.
