The Queensland Rugby community is mourning the loss of Queensland Representative 794, Dr Mick Barry, who tragically passed on Friday 6 November at the age of 77.
Dr Barry was educated at Marist College Ashgrove and played for Brothers Rugby Club while studying medicine at the University of Queensland.
In 1966 at the age of 23, Dr Barry made his Queensland debut against New South Wales at Normanby Oval.
The nuggety scrumhalf would go on to play 30 games for his state, scoring six tries and taking on international sides including the British and Irish Lions, France, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland and South Africa.
Dr Barry debuted for the Wallabies in 1971, with his sole match in the green and gold coming against South Africa in Sydney.
Upon finishing his playing career, Dr Barry worked as an ear, nose and throat specialist and was a prominent member of the Currumbin community on the Gold Coast.
