There is no bigger year in Wallaroos history than 2025 if you weigh up the growth of women’s rugby and the huge showcase of a Rugby World Cup in England.
For the first time, sports travel experience specialists Gullivers will be hosting tours to a women’s Rugby World Cup in the form of six Weekend Packages.
ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GULLIVERS' RUGBY WORLD CUP PACKAGES
The Weekend Packages will be sought after, most particularly with the peak Pool A game between the Wallaroos and England scheduled for September 6 at Brighton and Hove Stadium.
This will be a taste of women’s rugby at its finest with an electrifying atmosphere in the early stages of a tournament running from August 22 to September 27.
The 31,800-seat stadium will be humming. Where better to stage an upset because it was the setting for Japan’s astonishing win over South Africa at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.
It will be a mouthwatering clash between the tournament favourites and a rising Wallaroos side.
A Gullivers Weekend Package guarantees any fan or Wallaroos family member seats for that game and the New Zealand vs Ireland game at the same venue the following day.
Already, this is a record-breaking tournament with more than 275,000 tickets sold and a world record crowd on the cards for a single day women’s sports event for the final on September 27 at Twickenham with its 82,000-seat capacity.
For the Wallaroos and rugby-loving fans and family, it’s a magnetic tournament of 16 nations. Every step along the way has meaning in the build-up, starting with Saturday afternoon’s Test against Fijiana in Suva.
There are seven Queenslanders in the frame at this early stage with selection in the Wallaroos’ 30-strong squad to prepare for Suva.
BREE-ANNA BROWNE (prop). One of the upbeat stories of the SMARTECH Super Rugby Women’s season. Made her return from a major knee injury and got better and better as the season progressed. You could see it in her confident scrummaging and ball-carrying.
CHARLOTTE CASLICK (utility back). The queen of rugby sevens made a clear statement that playing in the Rugby World Cup in 15-a-side rugby was a major goal by committing to an extended season in Super Rugby Women’s. Her silky skills are eye-catching with her sharp passing, elusive running and sense of how to beat defenders. She’s an all-round package who seizes pilfers as well.
LORI CRAMER (fullback). Experienced fullback and exceptional goalkicker. Showed her versatility by switching to flyhalf for the Reds’ run to the Super Rugby Women’s grand final. Poise and game sense are strong suits.
TIARAH MINNS (lock). Huge workrate is a calling card for the lock originally from Victoria. She made her Wallaroos last year. Steps up with sure lineout work and her appetite for defence in every game.
NAT WRIGHT (halfback). Made her Wallaroos debut last year. The perky halfback loves a dash from the ruckbase and has a strong pass.
LAYNE MORGAN (halfback). The Wallaroos halfback enjoyed multiple titles with the NSW Waratahs before joining the Reds this year. At her best in the final weeks of the Reds season with her calm, smart knowledge of the game and ability to bring other weapons into the game.
EVA KARPANI (prop). A star of the world game. Her blockbusting runs have made her a cult hero. That’s on top of doing all the tight work of a front-rower. The “K Train” was aboard for the Wallaroos’ World Cup campaign in New Zealand in 2022.
Before the World Cup in August, there is a program of seven Tests for Queensland’s best and the Wallaroos at large to groove a winning formula.
Tests against Fijiana, NZ’s Black Ferns (two), the USA, Canada and Wales (two) follow before the World Cup.
