The Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) has today announced Buildcorp as their official construction partner and official naming rights partner of the Reds Academy through to 2024.

In addition to helping unearth the state’s next generation of talent in the Buildcorp Reds Academy, Buildcorp will also become the naming rights partner of the Buildcorp Emerging Reds Cup (ERC), which kicked off at Bulimba’s Riverside Junior Rugby Club yesterday.

The partnership continues Buildcorp’s commitment to Queensland and Australian Rugby, with the company leading the Buildcorp Wallaroos program since 2018 and supporting a number of grassroots clubs including the University of Queensland since 2008.

Buildcorp is also in the process of constructing the National Rugby Training Centre (NRTC) and new McLean Stand at Ballymore, which is set to be completed by early 2023.

The partnership will see a Reds Academy and Reds Super W player have the opportunity to join the Buildcorp Cadet program, providing potential employment opportunities and outstanding professional development exposure within a commercial construction environment.

QRU Chief Executive Officer David Hanham said: “We’re delighted to have Buildcorp on board to help us build the opportunities for homegrown talent to progress through our elite pathway programs and represent the Queensland Reds.

“Buildcorp have a proven track record of Rugby partnerships, and this partnership and investment will allow our Academy to continue to innovate and develop outstanding young players.”

Buildcorp Managing Director Tony Sukkar AM said: “Buildcorp is thrilled to be extending our support of grassroots Rugby with this long-term partnership commitment to the Reds Academy.

“Proven to strengthen the game we look forward to watching the next generation of Super W, Super Rugby, Wallaroos and Wallaby players learn and grow.”

Buildcorp Queensland General Manager Mike Currie said: “Becoming the official construction partner for the Reds is an exciting milestone in the growth of our business in Queensland.

“Understanding how the leadership team at the Reds use the Buildcorp Academy to strengthen their organisation mirrors our approach to career development.

“Just as I have risen through the ranks at Buildcorp, I look forward to watching the next generation of Reds stars as they come through the Academy.”

Buildcorp Marketing and Client Relations and former Reds hooker James Hanson said: “Being part of the Reds Academy again, this time as a sponsor is a full life circle moment for me.

“I know the benefits the Academy can bring and look forward to sharing my experiences in the corporate phase of my career now working with the team at Buildcorp.”

Founded in 1990, Buildcorp services a wide variety of clients with projects spanning many disciplines of commercial construction, including base building construction, refurbishment, building upgrades, fit-out, remedial building, heavy industrial projects and architectural joinery.

A family-owned business, Buildcorp believes in the power of balanced teams, shared values and partnering with like-minded organisations to be part of their solution.
