The Buildcorp Super W season for 2023 has today been announced, with the Queensland Reds set for five regular season matches including three home-games.
The Super W season will kick off in Melbourne for Queensland, with the Reds Women travelling alongside the Men’s team to Victoria to face the Melbourne Rebels at AAMI Park on Saturday, 25 March.
The team return home for their first of two home double headers at Suncorp Stadium on Friday March 31, with the Reds taking on the Western Force at 4:05pm in their Round 2 Super W fixture before the Super Rugby Pacific fixture between the Reds and Crusaders at 6:35pm.
On Friday April 7, both the Reds Women and Men will welcome the Brumbies to Suncorp Stadium for a blockbuster double header between the two Australian franchises. The Super W clash will kick off at 5:05pm, followed by the Super Rugby Pacific fixture at 7:35pm.
Round 4 will see the Reds travel to Sydney to face close rivals the NSW Waratahs on Saturday April 15, with the venue still to be confirmed for this fixture.
Wests Bulldogs Rugby Club will host the Reds Round 5 home game against the Fijiana Drua at Sci-Fleet Stadium on Sunday, April 25 at 1:05pm.
Head coach Simon Craig said: “I’m really happy with how the draw has landed for us in 2023.
“We’re excited to host three home games in Queensland, including two double-header matches at Suncorp Stadium which will see our players have the opportunity to pull on the Queensland jersey on the state’s biggest sporting stage.
“Our final home game of the season at Sci-Fleet Stadium will provide us with the chance to connect with the community game at the home ground of a club in Wests who have provided outstanding support for the Women’s game since its inception in Queensland.
“After the success of the recent World Cup in New Zealand, Women’s Rugby has a lot of momentum and we look forward to building upon that during the 2023 Super W Season.”
The 2023 Super W season will see all six Super W teams play each other once during the regular season. In a change to previous seasons, the top four teams on the ladder will progress through to finals, with a one v four semi-final and a two v three semi-final to be played, the winners progressing through to the Grand Final.
All Super W matches will be available to watch exclusively, ad-free and on demand on Stan Sport – with select Saturday double-headers being simulcast free-to-air on 9GEM.
