The Queensland Rugby Union (QRU) has today announced Starlight Children’s Foundation as an official Charity Partner for 2022.

Founded in 1988, Starlight is a non-profit organisation dedicated to brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families.

The QRU will support the work of the foundation through a number of community engagements and campaigns throughout the 2022 season and aim to assist in bringing fun, joy and laughter to the lives of sick kids.

QRU CEO David Hanham said: “We’re proud to partner with the Starlight Foundation.

“Starlight has done outstanding work across Australia for over 30-years and we hope to support their efforts with this partnership.

“It’s important we play our part in bringing joy to kids going through challenges and support them in their treatment and recovery.

“Our players are looking forward to visiting the Starlight Express Room (SER) at Queensland Children’s Hospital and supporting sick kids in the community once restrictions ease further.”

Starlight Queensland Partnerships Manager Tracey Tomlin said: “The work Starlight does to bring happiness to sicks kids is only made possible by the generosity of the community, so we’re incredibly appreciative to be announced as Queensland Rugby Union’s official Charity Partner.

“QRU’s support throughout the 2022 season will help ensure seriously ill children in hospital have access to the happiness so essential to their total health and wellbeing.”

Starlight is the QRU’s third official Charity Partner alongside the White Cloud Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities.
