2024 Wallaroos Player of the Year Maya Stewart will get her first taste of the Sevens gold jersey, named to play for Australia A at the International Invitational in Dubai.
Stewart is one of several big-name inclusions in the team for the two-day event, with Olympians Bridget Clark and Kahli Henwood headlining a host of Australia Sevens squad members selected.
All Australia A matches can be live-streamed via the Dubai 7s YouTube channel.
The flyer is joined by fellow Wallaroo Waiaria Ellis, also named in the Australia U18s Global Youth Sevens team for next month’s tournament.
The Waratahs duo will get their chance at the shortened format after joining the Australian squad during training throughout the off-season following their appearance at the 2025 Rugby World Cup.
Meanwhile, Clark and Henwood are joined by Sevens teammates Kiiahla Duff, Piper Simons, and Sidney Taylor for the tournament.
The quintet will be pushing their chances for a recall after missing selection for the opening round of the SVNS World Series.
The remainder of the squad is filled with Next Gen Sevens standouts, including title-winning Queenslanders Rhani Hagan and Emmisyn Wynyard. Zoe Waters made an eye-catching recent comeback from injury in Queensland's three-leg Caslick Cup competition.
NSW duo Anaia Cruickshank and Amelia Whitaker have also been named, with Whitaker debuting for the Waratahs in Super Rugby W earlier in the year.
“The International Invitational in Dubai is an important pathway for players preparing to take the next step into the national squad,” Parry said.
“The amount of depth created in the Australian squad in recent years means we’ll have plenty of World Series experience for the tournament, and those players will also get valuable game time.
“Most of the younger players have come through the Next Gen Sevens program this year and are stars of the future, while Maya Stewart gets a chance in Sevens.
“It’s going to be a challenging tournament, but we are looking forward to the opportunity to play in Dubai and against other international teams."
Australia A have been drawn into Pool A with matches against Belgium, Kazakhstan, Brazil, and China on Saturday, with the finals to take place on Sunday.
