The Queensland Rugby community is mourning the passing of Queensland player #841 and Wallaby #527 Alan Skinner.

Born and raised in Sydney, Skinner debuted for New South Wales in 1967 and made his national debut the in 1969 against Wales.

The number-eight made the move to Queensland the following year and settled in Townsville, leading Brothers Townsville to a premiership in his first season in Far North Queensland.

He earned his first Queensland cap in May of 1970 and would go on to play eight games in maroon over the next two seasons, including matches against New South Wales, Scotland, the British and Irish Lions, South Africa and France.

Skinner finished his career with three Wallaby caps, playing Tests against South Africa and Scotland following his debut against the Welsh.
