Queensland have landed a major signing coup with reigning Wallaroos Player of the Year Eva Karpani leaving Daceyville to ink a two-year deal with the Reds.

Karpani, 28, heads to Ballymore as Australia's premier prop with 31 Test caps and a host of silverware from her six-year tenure with the NSW Waratahs.

The tighthead prop featured in each of the Tahs' 2019, 2021 and 2024 grand final victories but has spent the past two years living in Queensland's Gold Coast region.

Eagle-eyed Wallaroo fans would have noted Karpani's name on the Reds' teamsheet when Queensland toured Tonga in July. Now, the Bond University star is ready to dive into a new life at Ballymore.

"It was all about timing and this season is the right time," Karpani told rugby.com.au and Reds Media.

“For me, living here for two years and being with the Waratahs for six, it played on my mind to play for the Reds.

“I’m keen to see what we can do as the Reds in 2025. For me, especially as a senior player, it’s also about paving the way and helping the next generation."

In a statement, Reds women’s high performance manager Nico Andrade branded Karpani as "world class".

“We are getting a player of personal and professional quality who is backing our program to help develop her to go to the 2025 World Cup as the best tighthead prop in the world,” Andrade said.

“Eva is absolutely world class and that’s with her skills around the set piece and those point-of-difference skills with her ball-playing and ball-running."
