The Queensland Rugby community is mourning the loss of Queensland Representative 829, Brian Galligan, who passed on Saturday.

A product of Toowoomba’s Downlands College and the University of Queensland Rugby Club, Brian made his debut for Queensland in 1969 against Fiji at Ballymore Stadium.

Brian also enjoyed a distinguished career off of the field, working as a professor of Political Science at the University of Melbourne from 1995, and as a Professor in the Research School of Social Science at the Australian National University previously.

In his later years, Brian enjoyed breeding Limousin cattle on his stud on Victoria’s Western plains.

A requiem service will be held in Melbourne at Newman College Chapel (University of Melbourne) on Thursday 19 December.
