The New South Wales Waratahs have ended the Queensland Reds’ 2022 Buildcorp Super W campaign with a 36-nil semi-final win in Sydney.

Despite a strong start by the Queenslanders, last year’s champions ran in six tries to none in a clinical display at Eric Tweedale Oval.

Scrumhalf Imogen Hei and lock Tina Campbell made their Queensland and Super W starting debuts in the loss.

After withstanding a number of Queensland attacking raids in the opening half, the hosts opened the scoring with a Grace Hamilton try in the 28th minute.

Mahaliah Murphy doubled the Waratahs’ advantage with a try of her own soon after, before Tatum Bird crossed on the stroke of half-time to open up a 17-nil lead for the home side.

A Natalie Delamere five-pointer gave the Tahs the perfect start to the second stanza and the reigning premiers continued to dominate for the second-forty, with a Margot Vella try stretching their advantage to 29-nil with 10-minutes to play.

Kaitlan Leaney scored after the siren to put the final score out to 36-nil in favour of the hosts.
